Today I’m going to show you how you can easily make your own 4×6″ postcard from digital scrapbooking supplies.
First, decide on a photo to use. Many tourist attractions have areas (like the one in my photo above) where you can pose and take your photo. These spots are especially great for postcard photos, but you can use any photo you like.
Now that you have your photo, pick a digital scrapbooking kit or other supplies that will coordinate well with your photo. I used the Campfire 2 4×6 SNAP Kit because it is already sized 4×6 and worked perfectly with my photo. I just opened one of the papers up, added the frame that came with it, and then added my photo to the layer under the frame.
If you don’t use a kit that is already sized 4×6, you will want to create a new document in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements that is sized 4×6″, 300dpi. Add your papers, photo, and other embellishments to your new document to design your postcard front.
For your postcard back, I have created a Free Gift for you to download and use, if you wish. It will be available for a limited time, so be sure to get it now if you are interested in it. You can download the free postcard back here. Simply download, unzip, and open the postcard back.
Once you are happy with your postcard front and you have opened the postcard back, print them on cardstock.
After printing, cut them out. I use a paper trimmer for straight edges, but you can do this with scissors, if you prefer. Turn your post card front over so that the back is facing upwards and apply glue to the back. Adhere the back of the postcard back to the back of the postcard front (both backs, the sides with nothing printed on them, will be glued together). Allow to dry completely and it will be ready for sending to your family and friends.
Here is the front of my postcard.
Here is the back of my postcard.
Note: You will write your correspondence on the left side of the back and you will add the address to the right side of the back.
I hope you enjoyed today’s idea – if you create a postcard of your own, be sure to post it in our gallery so we can see it!
