It’s Day 3 of the “Home for the Summer” series! From June 21 – August 31 we will have a fun idea to share with you and today it’s not only fun, but it’s yummy too!
When I was a kid, my mom had lots of cookbooks and I loved looking through them. One of her cookbooks was devoted entirely to popcorn. It has pretty much any kind of popcorn recipe you can think of, everything from savory to sweet. There was two favorites that my mom made from that cookbook. One was a sugar and spice popcorn, which was simply a cinnamon sugar mixture sprinkled over buttered popcorn, and the other was a Peanut Butter & Jelly Popcorn. It was such a treat to have either one!
I was telling my kids this story and they were eager for me to make one of them during a movie night. I did a quick search online for the Peanut Butter & Jelly popcorn recipe and I didn’t find one that matched what I had as a kid. That’s okay – I played around with the ingredients I remembered and figured it out on my own.
Our movie night was complete! The kids gobbled it up (of course!) and it stood out as a definite memory for them. Just this week, when talking to my youngest son about “Home for the Summer” ideas, he said: “Tell them about movie night with Peanut Butter and Jelly Popcorn!”. So, how could I resist? I thought that was the perfect “Home for the Summer” idea to share. I even made you a printable recipe card that you can download.

Oh, and as you might imagine, Peanut Butter & Jelly Popcorn can be a bit messy, so grab the napkins!
Be sure to check back tomorrow for our next Home for the Summer idea!

Well, you all know this is right up my ally, along with the chocolate popcorn that I love to share! Thanks for the YUMMY recipe! I love that you made it recipe card size and I can’t wait to try it.
Thanks Rosemary!!
This sounds yummy! I think we will have to try this one and maybe add peanuts to it. :)
Thanks Trish!
oh this sounds good! I’ll have to make it for our movie nights, we just made a big screen to use in the back yard with the projector!
thanks for the recipe card ..it sounds yummy…so yummy that i had to try it last night…but it didnt work…oh dear… i used natural peanut butter do you think that was the problem… it never melted … do you have to use some thing like skippy..my natural pnut butter is just peanuts nothing else… and i didnt have jelly, just fruit only stuff… oh dear..thats what i get for trying to be healthy! LOL…
I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you, Bobbie. I’m not sure if the natural peanut butter or the fruit only product, or both. I haven’t used either in making this (we use an actual Smuckers type jelly and a Skippy type peanut butter). I know I’ve found that some brands I’ve adjusted the ingredients more to suit our tastes – like this past weekend we added more peanut butter, but I’ve not had problems with it melting.
I’m like you, Bobbie, my peanut butter is just peanuts and it won’t melt. I remember trying to make a Thai peanut sauce and gave up because all I had were chunks. This popcorn sounds so good, it’d be worth the Skippy indulgence.
My youngest daughter loves peanut butter. We are always amazed at the amount we go through at my house. I have to admit I’m a big fan of Rosemary’s chocolate popcorn myself, but I’ll definitely have to make my daughter some. Thanks Brandie!
